Syttende Mai (meaning May 17th in Norwegian) is Norwegian Constitution Day, an official Norwegian holiday celebrating the signing of their Constitution and their independence from Sweden.

Wanamingo has a large number of residents of Norwegian roots, and they have a yearly celebration of this holiday.  This often includes a pancake breakfast, a lutefisk dinner,  a number of craft demonstrations, and numerous other events.
